FTM author Jody Helfand speaks about self-love at The Little Church in Portland, OR on March 25th, 2011
Join us on the evening of Friday, March 25th for “Loving Yourself, Loving Your Body”, a talk by author, poet, and FTM expert Jody Rose Helfand on issues about self-love. He will also read from his new book, Places Male And Female.
The theme of the night is LOVE. The event takes place at The Little Church, located at 5138 NE 23rd Ave. (thelittlechurchpdx.com)
The event will also feature a brief talk by belly-dancer and expert “Suhier”. She will share a brief history of belly-dancing and how it relates to self-love of the body, followed by a live belly dancing performance.
Jody Helfand’s new book, Places Male And Female, is a book of poetry about his gender change from female to male. He writes a popular blog on his website, (jodyrosehelfand.com), about issues relating to his gender change. Jody holds degrees in English (MA) and in Creative Writing (MFA). Jody’s poetry and prose has appeared in over 50 magazines and journals and he has also written The FTM Sex Guide.
He lectures on the importance of listening to your heart and loving yourself, as well as finding emotional wellness and happiness, relating this to his experience of changing his gender from female to male, and the difference between Jody and a genetic man. He is available for speaking engagements and is currently on a book tour. Jody’s FTM Sex Guide is for sale as an eBook, and the purchase includes his poetry e-book for free. The FTM Sex Guide is the first of its kind; “I wrote it because I was looking for a book about sex for guys like me and couldn’t find one.”

Doors open at 7:30pm, and the event begins promptly at 8:00pm. $1 from each ticket sale will be raffled off to one lucky winner at the conclusion of the event.
